Waldron are a well-established commercial seating re-upholstery company based in Reading. We have a vacancy for an experienced sewing machinist, to work with a small, friendly team re-upholstering a wide variety of seating used in commercial work environments.

If you are experienced using Industrial sewing machines, ideally from an upholstery, soft furnishing or curtain making background and have a passion to learn more, this is the job for you.


30 hours per week, (working hours negotiable)

Holiday: 28 days including Bank Holidays (pro rata for part time)

Pension: auto-enrolment pension

Salary: according to experience and skills

Free onsite parking

Required from end of November 2023.

Skills and experience required:

  • Experience using industrial sewing machines;
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work closely with the cutter and upholstery staff to achieve required results;
  • Good understanding of sewing techniques e.g. piping, twin needling, top stitching;
  • Able to sew with a wide variety of commercial materials;
  • Ability to troubleshoot sewing related issues;
  • Ability to modify work to resolve assembly issues as required;
  • Ability to work to deadlines;
  • Ability to meet quality standards;
  • A flexible attitude and willingness to learn new skills.

Experience with upholstery is not essential but the confident use of an industrial sewing machine is a must. You will be self-motivated with a keen eye for detail, pride in your work and a proactive approach to learning new skills.

Due to the nature of our work no day is the same and this varied and interesting role would suit someone looking to challenge themselves and extend their skills in a small supportive team with an ever changing work-flow.
